Alongside commissioned portraits, I occasionally release original graphite artworks of horses, dogs and wildlife. These exclusive pieces are available as collectors small, limited edition fine art prints, and may be uniquely embellished with subtle touches of spot colour or watercolour to enhance their individuality and collector appeal. There’s something quietly powerful about the humble pencil. Used for centuries by artists to study light, texture, and anatomy, graphite is a medium rooted in tradition, one that invites closer looking, deeper appreciation, and timeless storytelling.
With just a single pencil and a sheet of paper, something extraordinary can unfold. About the Artist, Faye Saunders-Low
Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I currently share my days with two beloved dogs and two horses, whose character, movement, and presence continue to inspire my work.
My fascination with the biomechanics of animal movement led me to study equine science in depth, completing both a degree and a master’s. Along the way, I bred and showed dogs, always captivated by the balance of beauty, structure, and expression in each animal.
My love of drawing began as a quiet curiosity — an inquisitive mind paired with a creative urge I couldn’t ignore. With each portrait, I found myself immersed not just in the likeness of the animal, but in the structure beneath — the lines, curves, and subtle shifts that bring a drawing to life. I aim to capture not only anatomical accuracy, but the unique soul of every subject.
Today, I dedicate myself fully to creating timeless graphite portraits of horses dogs and wildlife, using only the highest-quality materials, including archival fine art paper, and professional grade graphite pencils.
Each drawing is a celebration of life, movement, and emotion. My goal is to honour the animals we love most with artwork that feels alive, cherished, and deeply personal
Commissioning your portrait
A custom graphite portrait is a deeply personal and timeless way to honour a beloved horse or dog. Each commission is entirely hand-drawn with precision and care, offering you a lasting keepsake that captures not just appearance, but soul and character of your best friend.
To book your commission you can simply go the shop and pre-purchase the size you want from single or double subjects. Or you can secure your place by using the order form below and paying the deposit via bank transfer. Once your deposit is received, I will be in touch via email and we will agree the details and I can give you rough timeframe for when your portrait will begin. Once your commission is underway, you’ll receive two progress updates — one midway through and another at the final stage for approval — before your finished portrait is carefully packaged and sent to you.
Once your portrait is complete, it will be carefully mounted in a high-quality ivory mount with a card backing, ready for you to take straight to your local framer for professional framing. UK orders are shipped via a reliable courier service, while international orders are sent via secure airmail.
